5 NBA Rookies that are Ready to Shake Up the League

The 2022-23 NBA draft class is definitely a class packed with talent and NBA-ready players. Here are some that are ready to make meaningful impacts on their teams.

1. Paolo Banchero

Paolo Banchero Update: The Orlando Magic Is Loving Their #1 Rookie - Duke Basketball Report

Paolo Banchero has been highly scouted as a league-bound player since high school. Being selected number 1 to the Orlando Magic. He is brimming with potential and on a team like the Magic, he's definitely going to have the ball in his hands a lot. In his last pre-season outing he put up 17 points, and 9 rebounds, on 66.7% field goal percentage. His high-scoring ability is exactly what his team needs, especially being paired on the floor with Franz Wagner. He is definitely a player to look out for.

2. Keegan Murray

Report: Sensational Kings rookie Keegan Murray undergoes minor surgery - Sactown Royalty

Keegan Murray flew under a lot of NBA radars in high school. However, his collegiate stunt in Iowa showed the world his talents and he was selected with the 4th pick in the draft to the Sacramento Kings. In the NBA Summer League, Keegan proved that he is the quintessential guard for the modern NBA. He averaged 23.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, on splits of 50% from the field and 40% from 3. While there may be some competition at the guard spot, I think Keegan is bound to take the spot from De'Aaron Fox. His shooting ability paired with his shifty-ness makes his ability to score nearly unmatched. Keegan Murray can be one of the best guards in the next generation of the NBA.

3. Tari Eason

Tari Eason flew extremely under the radar for the entire NBA community. With the Rockets drafting Jabari Smith in the lottery of the NBA, he stole the show for their franchise. However, Tari Eason (who was selected with the 17th pick) has put up a stunning performance in the NBA preseason. He put up a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. It may be hard for him to break into the starting line-up with all the young talent at the center and power forward positions. I could potentially see them running a line-up with Tari at the 3 spot to allow for Sengun and Smith to be on the floor as well. Whether he starts or comes off the bench, he has proven that he can have a great impact when he's on the floor.

4. Jalen Duren

Pistons media day: Rookie Jalen Duren hungry to earn playing time, prove himself

Jalen Duren may not be the most flashy on-court player, but he brings something that I can only compare to one other player in NBA history. Throughout his preseason games, he's shown a high level of grit. I'm hesitant to say, but his rebounding ability and hustle are comparable to that of Dennis Rodman. In his last game against the Knicks, he had 14 boards which led the entire team. His rebounding ability and physicality are 2 of the most useful skills for a young center. He's definitely showing his impact and putting the pressure on Isaiah Stewart for that starting center spot.

5. Nikola Jović

Heat's Nikola Jovic caps off California Classic with 25-point effort

Nikola Jović strikes me as such a dynamic player. He's a 6'10 small forward, and his current playstyle is that of a combo guard. Super versatile and can fit in many roles on the team. In his preseason game against the Kings, he may not have shot the best, but he recorded 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 blocks. I think his poor shooting displayed something great; if he's lacking on the offensive side of the floor, he picks up the slack on the defensive end. The Heat is a great team and has almost all of their flaws covered for the most part, and with the addition of Jović with his level of potential, the future of the Heat is bright.

The NBA talent pool continues to grow every single season. Suffice it to say, the league is in excellent hands for the future. All of these rookies are ready to make an impact on their teams and are brimming with potential. The NBA is in great hands.
